At IHMI, we offer several membership grades to suit your various needs.
The grading system is as follows :

This grade of membership confers the post-nominal letters FIHM and the Designation or Description: “Certified Hospitality Manager.”

Fellows must have :-

  • Made a significant personal contribution to the industry.
  • Been in a Senior Management position for at least 3 years.
  • Been a Full Corporate Member (MIHM) of the Institute for at least 3 years or at the discretion of the Executive Council be considered for direct entry in accordance with the Regulations.
  • Been able to demonstrate a significant contribution to the aims and work of the Institute.
  • Provided evidence of an ongoing commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in the appropriate way.
  • Applications for upgrading to Fellowship must be supported by two (2) Fellows of the Institute, who shall have knowledge of the candidate for three (3) years immediately prior to the application. Referees must not be members of the applicant's immediate family.
     
In exceptional circumstances, the Executive Council may admit directly into Fellowship, individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the industry. They must be able and willing, in the view of the Council, to personally advance the objectives of the Institute and encourage others to pursue these objectives throughout the industry.

Applications for direct entry to Fellowship must be supported by Fellows of the Institute or referees of standing.
 

This grade of membership confers the post-nominal letters MIHM (Grad) and the Designation or Description “Incorporated Hospitality Manager”.

Graduate Members must have :-

  • Qualifications : the Institute of Hospitality Management Ireland Graduate Diploma or, a degree, foundation degree, diploma or equivalent comparable qualification recognized by the Institute.
  • Experience : Have achieved the appropriate industry experience in a management or senior management post directly concerned with the hospitality, leisure, tourism or in associated industries.
  • Continuing Professional Development : Provide evidence of an ongoing Continuing Professional Development in the appropriate form.
     
This grade of membership confers the post-nominal letters MIHM (Dip) and the Designation or Description “Registered Hospitality Manager”.

Members (Diploma) must have :-

  • Qualifications : the Institute of Hospitality Management Ireland Diploma or a degree, foundation degree, diploma or equivalent comparable qualification recognized by the Institute
  • Experience : Have achieved the appropriate industry experience in a management or senior management post directly concerned with the hospitality, leisure, tourism or in associated industries.
  • Continuing Professional Development : Provide evidence of an ongoing Continuing Professional Development in the appropriate form.
This is grade confers the post-nominal letters AIHM and the designation “Incorporated Hospitality Executive”.

Associate Members must have :-

  • Qualifications : the Institute of Hospitality Certificate or a degree, foundation degree, diploma or equivalent comparable qualification recognized by the Institute.
  • Experience : Have achieved the appropriate industry experience at an entry level or supervisory management post directly concerned with the hospitality, leisure, tourism or in associated industries.
  • Continuing Professional Development : Provide evidence of ongoing commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

 

Honorary Awards:

Hon Fellow to thank people from outside the industry for helping us. Honorary Fellow does not imply any competence in the hospitality industry and are simply a means of expressing our gratitude.


Hon Life Fellow is an honorary award made to Fellows of the Institute who have achieved eminence in the industry generally or specifically for their efforts to assist the Institute.
